Our People: Tatum Savage
In our busy lives, where women juggle many roles, daily rituals help keep us grounded and refreshed. Learning from others is just as important - embracing their wisdom can lead to growth and positive change. By incorporating these lessons into our routines, we can live a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Tatum Savage is the founder and director of Savage Society, a boutique consultancy that works with founder-led brands across beauty, fashion, and lifestyle to shape stories that resonate with purpose. With nearly two decades of experience in brand strategy, communications, and creative direction, including over a decade at the helm of M·A·C Cosmetics’ PR in New Zealand, Tatum is known for partnering closely with female founders to help bring their vision to life with authenticity, clarity, and care.
A longtime champion of women’s wellbeing and self-leadership, Tatum was drawn to Embodyme’s mission from the start. She shares a deep alignment with founder Sarah Reid’s belief in presence and intention - values she also lives by in her own life as a mother, creative, and communicator. Tatum continues to build a career and a life defined by care, connection, and considered impact.
Morning Ritual:
What's the first thing you do in the morning to set a positive tone for the day?
Every day after my shower, I take a moment to reconnect through self-massage and facial sculpting using Embodyme’s Nurturing Body Oils. I intentionally choose the emotion I want to cultivate, be it peace, courage, kindness or joy, and then begin massaging my chest, neck, and décolletage to stimulate my lymphatic system. I use the light residue on my hands to sculpt my face. It’s a small ritual, but it makes a big difference. It brings me back into my body and reminds me to move through the day with intention.
Daily Inspiration:
Could you share a daily practice or routine for self connection?
Every day after my shower I practice self massage and facial sculpting with Embodyme Nurturing Body Oils. I always intentionally choose the emotion I want to instil more of from Embodyme’s lineup of signature scents, then begin massaging my chest, neck and decollatage to stimulate my lymphs. From there I keep the residue oil on my hands to sculpt my face. I find the stimulation lifts me up for the day and helps me feel more connected to myself.
Evening Ritual:
How do you unwind and practice self care in the evening after a busy day?
Sleep is sacred to me. About an hour before bed, I begin winding down by dimming the lights, lighting a candle, and putting my phone aside (even if the TV is on in the background). Reading is my way of switching gears; it helps me quiet the noise of the day. I’ll read in bed until I naturally drift toward sleep. I also wear an Oura ring, and yes, I do take pride in a great sleep score. Prioritising rest has genuinely transformed how I show up the next day.
Favourite Product:
Is there a specific product of ours that you love and why?
‘Courage’ is my go-to. It’s more than a scent - it’s a mindset. When I apply it, it feels like I’m putting on a suit of armour to face the day. Earlier this year, I lost my Dad tragically and unexpectedly, and in the weeks that followed, Courage helped me shift my state especially on days when just getting out of bed felt like a feat. It became a quiet companion during a season of deep grief, and for that I’m endlessly grateful.
Words of Wisdom/Words to live by:
If this year has taught me anything, it’s that everything can change in an instant. I’ve learned to savour every moment with the people I love and to find beauty in things I once rushed past. I used to live life on fast-forward. Now, I live in the moment. I’ve chosen to thrive, not just survive.
One of my favourite mantras comes from Sarah Reid, Embodyme’s founder: Create a life you don’t need a holiday from. I couldn’t agree more. Amen.
